The Juice

Joe Mercuri is a star of the Montreal restaurant scene. Obsessed with putting together fresh local ingredients in innovative flavour combinations, with a focus on textures and an unparalleled attention to detail, Joe Mercuri has elevated cutting-edge cuisine to an art form.  In 2004, Joe assembled a dedicated team of loyal chefs and cooks, opened his first restaurant, Brontë, and immediately won En Route’s prestigious Best New Restaurant in Canada award. The critical acclaim has not stopped since.

But now, after taking a brief hiatus to spend time raising his son Cruz, Joe Mercuri is a celebrity chef without a home. His dream is to open a new restaurant – Joe Mercuri’s – where he can reunite his old team, and they can practice their craft together. To open a restaurant, Joe needs business partners. Not surprisingly, a group of partners behind some of Montreal’s most successful restaurants is interested. They know that Joe’s cooking skills are without peer, and would like to back his dream. But they are also aware that restaurants are about more than just delicious, original food. They are about business; the business of making money.

The Juice is a thirteen-part documentary series that follows Joe Mercuri and his team as they open Joe’s dream restaurant, striving for perfection in their cuisine, while constantly challenged by the absolute necessity of keeping their business partners happy. A hybrid of The Heat and Chuck’s Day Off, The Juice will showcase the artistry of Joe’s dishes, while bringing us no-holds-barred into the back-of-the-house, where Joe sweats it out to get the food on the table.
